Below is a summary of some of the types of projects Almor has provided engineering and testing services for:
Almor has been involved with the design and rehabilitation of pavement sections, asphalt and concrete mix designs and the coordination of both full-time and part-time on-site test programs in over 30 municipal centers. These centers extend east to the Alberta/Saskatchewan border, west to the Columbia River Valley, north to Athabasca and south to the Crowsnest Corridor from Lethbridge, Fernie and Cranbrook. Knowledge of the regional geology, site specific material sampling and durability of insitu roadway materials have enhanced our abilities, with respect to municipal construction and material selection.
Almor has provided initial site investigations, as well as the coordination and supervision of technical staff during earthworks construction, such as stripping, rough grading, underground utility placement and backfill, shallow utility placement and the subgrade preparation for the surface structures. This supervision has been provided for over 70 individual phases of subdivision development, under the authorization of about 20 different land developers and prime consultants. On several of these projects, complete or partial quality control test programs were provided for the concrete and asphaltic surface structures as well.
A few of these projects are:
Almor has been involved with the coordination of the site investigation, report recommendations and quality control certification through to the completion of construction. These projects consisted of storm retention ponds and sewage lagoons with insitu clay soil liners, various types of membrane lines and concrete base structures of various types of thicknesses.
A few of these recent projects are:

Subsurface investigation programs consist of near surface groundwater identifications and soil percolation rate testing. These investigations are performed in accordance with Municipal Affairs, Alberta Environmental Protection guidelines, Rockyview County, Foothills County and Wheatland County guidelines and specifications. The test holes and percolation holes are advanced using Almor’s truck mounted auger drill rig. We have performed these investigations on projects throughout the City of Calgary and surrounding areas, such as:
Almor has coordinated subsurface investigation programs, utilizing Becker Drill Hammer Rigs and/or various sized backhoes, to obtain representative samples. Analysis of materials is performed to determine their adequacy for use in concrete, asphaltic concrete, ballast and crushed gravel products. We have coordinated quality control programs during crushing operations and assisted in achieving desired end product specifications, eg. screen control and fines reduction (washing). These projects were conducted for an array of private developers and major Alberta concrete and paving contractors.
Almor has provided complete development services to a variety of mixed use developments from the initial geotechnical investigation through construction materials testing and schedule sign off as engineer of record.
